Quilt & Sew-In Fall II

For one hour, there was silence in the retreat room on Wednesday and then…the magic began again. Attendees of Fall II arrived! Once again there was so much creativity, productivity, conversation and laughter. For me it was double the fun, double the laughter and a little more exhaustion! For the whole week I even got to meet 8 quilters I had never met before which is just awesome.

What can I say about this one except that it is exceptional! Dolores took scrappy to the next level. Even the back is scrappy strips. That is a LOT of sewing!

At the Spring 2017 retreat, Tina took some of the charity blocks home, squared them, and put them together for two quilt tops. At this retreat she quilted them. (Both are the same). Won’t this bring joy to someone in Hospice care? Thank you Tina – having to just bind these quilts made life a little bit easier for me and gets these quilts to Hospice a lot sooner.

Two Fall Retreats – Fun, Fun, Fun!!

Usually I post retreat fun immediately after returning.  Having done two retreats back to back, I was totally pooped!! I always love being with these creative souls, and this year was no different – just double the fun and productivity. (Click on each pic to see captions)

Creative Borders – Fall Table Topper

An Island Batik Adventure

Creative Borders and Binding Graphic

October’s assignmentBorders and bindings. There was no specific IB group required, so I pulled out my bins of Island Batiks and chose a few fall colors.  Just having finished a Round Robin, and loving it, I decided to do my very own little Round Robin!  I started with a very simple center.

Then one by one, the borders got added.

No, I did not sketch this out or put it on EQ – sometimes I just like to move ahead as I’m led. I did need to stop and do math, however (ich). After seven (7) borders, some wide open spaces were needed, so I added the large yellow triangles. Yes, I took the “border” assignment quite seriously! The appliqued pumpkins are perfect for a fall table topper! Aren’t they just so cute?!

Two more borders then quilting. I’m working on my machine quilting skills and am really happy with how it turned out on this project. Admittedly, a small table topper is SO much easier to manage than a full quilt! A plain binding and – Done! It looks great on my dining table, although I still find it hard to believe that it is fall already. And yes, Christmas will be upon us before we know it.
