Two packs of bright narrow strips (Windham Foundation) turned into lots of sewing fun. What a joy to work with such bright prints! I decided to work with columns of the strips and added a wider black and white piece every so often. No real plan here, just fun sewing. This wasn’t going to be very big and when I finished this much, I took a picture. Oh dear, much too busy. It was almost enough for me to put aside but I knew if I did that it might not see the light of day for a long, long time.
So…I added black borders. It really contained it and I liked it! More strip sewing to add outer borders and then more black borders. Now I really like this little quilt. I even quilted it right away which is SO not my MO. I used a variegated thread and did large wavy lines. I like the way the colors of the thread show on the black fabric.
I used a bright flowery fabric for the backing to compliment the front of the quilt.
Love having a finish in January! One more WIP to check off my list.

Hello! Oh, those two black borders really do contain the colors and finish it off so nicely. This is just fabulous, I think! Yay for a January finish already, and one from stash makes it all the sweeter. ~smile~ Roseanne
Love it! The black brings all of those wonderful brights together.

This sure brightens up the day. I enjoy using variegated thread, too.
Your quilt is so beautiful! It’s cool! Enjoy your day! 🙂 🙂
Love it! Very pretty and cheerful!
SO not your MO??? Well,I am glad that you are stepping outta ya comfort zone. Because that double border does a double whammy – in a good way. Love how you used black/white prints in the corners to bring the chaos under control. Love it.
What a bright and beautiful quilt! The black lets every color shine!
So creative. Love the border idea.
I love bright, scrappy quilts. I think the black you added was just right. Very classy! Thanks for sharing.

A touch of black with all those bright was a brilliant solution. It looks great!
In 51 weeks, as I just finished 4 days of classes and events-Road to CALIFORNIA quilters conference and convention in Ontario California!
How wide were the strips? Love the look and would like to make a similar quilt with my many scraps.
2 1/2″ x 4″ and 1 1/2″ x 4″. Have fun with it!
