And see what we woke up to this morning in the NC Piedmont! It wasn’t a surprise as we’ve been hearing the predictions for several days now. I don’t want it to happen often, but I do love when it snows here because we go nowhere. To me, that means a day of sewing. I don’t even have to cook – I took a large container of a very yummy soup out of the freezer.
Being homebound also helps me to enjoy our Christmas decorations and to reminisce about Christmases when our children were little.
Our “big” tree is in the living room and the little tree (no ornaments, just lights) in the dining room. The stockings that adorn our fireplace were made by our next door neighbor over 20 years ago! They no longer live here but are warmly remembered. . There are several of my son’s carved ornaments on the tree. Our “big” tree also has ornaments made by our children when they were little – my favorites!
And here are more of our son’s carved Santas that he did when he was 16 years old. Each year it’s so fun getting them all out and displaying them together. They do have a place year round in our home, but at Christmas they are front and center!
One of my most precious decorations is this Nativity that was crafted in clay by our daughter when she was ten years old. It sets in our dining room years round. Baby Jesus looks like a pea in a pod.
And my sewing today? It’s been challenging. I’ll save those pics and the story for another day. How’s the weather where you are? Whatever it is – enjoy!!
