Can’t Wait to Start a New Year!!

I ended the year with a few more finishes I couldn’t show earlier because they were gifts. For my son and daughter, I made them each a table runner for their home. The brown was for my son and the green for my daughter is not pictured – it was camera shy! On the back of each instead of the usual backing, I pieced it and appliqued leaves. Now they each have two table runners for the price of one. I also made six matching placemats in the brown. Here’s the problem with placemats – now you have 6 bindings, 24 corners and 6 finishes. Seemed to take forever.

My sister is a snowbird coming from New York State to Florida each year after Christmas, stopping at our place as it is about half way and an “A-1” accommodation. And, the price is right! I was inspired to make her a quilt for her Florida home – a lap quilt for the now and then cool days. I bought some of the fabric while in Hilton Head, drew a row-by-row out at home and hubby put it on EQ for me. She is not on the shore, so dolphins, beach, whales and so on would not have been appropriate. She is on a lake, so fish and sunshine won!  There were some adjustments along the way but I really like the way it came out.

I won’t post all my 2015 finishes as a final post of the year, as it would be over 30. Yikes! Of course, I have no idea what 2016 holds. Most of the projects awaiting my attention are fairly detailed, so I don’t foresee any quick finishes, but I do plan to enjoy all the processes. After all, I’m happy as long as I’m sewing!  Happy New Year to you and happy creating!!
