Scrapbuster – A Scrappy Trip

Scrappy Trip (Large)

Making charity quilts is very important to me. I have been so fortunate to have lots of fabric, a great sewing space, tools and machines. I also have more quilts around the house than a body needs. The thought that a quilt I make would give comfort to a  child in the hospital or someone suffering an illness, brings me such joy. My guild does quilts that are usually given to children in the hospital. I have no doubt that the parents of the child get even more joy from this gift. I also sew with a small group from a church that have been making quilts for Hospice patients for several years. I have finally finished my first full lap quilt for Hospice. This is a Scrappy Trip Around The World, a Bonnie Hunter pattern. It was inspired when I first helped with Diana’s Golden Needle, a Girl Scout Gold Award project that involves making this quilt for children aging out of foster care. This is a great way to use up scraps. Yes, it’s a lot of sewing, but is not at all difficult. This one is totally scrappy and I like the look. I will probably make another one with more planned color… “Someday…”
