New Season – New Bag

hanging bag 1 (Large)

I have some great home dec fabric in my stash. For quite some time  I have been wanting to make something from an elegant fabric from Free Spirit – Vicki Payne’s For Your Home “Chain.”  Finally, I came up with the perfect project for it – a new bag! I found the pattern on the blog Ric Rac and was excited when I read that it only took an hour to make. Silly me – of course it took me much longer. I’ll fess up – a whole day.

One of my changes added to the project time – I used a heavy stabilizer instead of batting. Definitely worth it – I love the sturdiness of the bag. I also added an extra pocket to the inside. There is one for my cell phone and a larger one for “stuff.” the bag closes with a magnetic snap. Having searched through my stash of buttons, I found the perfect pair of vintage buttons.

Isn’t it smart looking? Can’t wait to fill it up and prance about with it on my arm!
