Warm and Cuddly!

Eleven fabrics came together beautifully!

Eleven fabrics came together beautifully!

Finished the second rag quilt at my getaway last weekend.  From Thursday night to late Sunday morning it was sew, sew, sew. Great Fun!! I am so fortunate to have great quilting buddies to share with, consult with,  and to sew with.

Whenever I make a rag quilt, it is such a rush to get it washed and then the big fluffy reveal when it comes out of the dryer. All the colors of the many fabrics used just came together. Honestly, it just did not look this good before the fluffing. Isn’t this quilt just perfect to cuddle with on a snowy cold day?!

  3. Love love your rag quilts! Is there a backing and batting? I want to make one for my niece, but I’m confused about the layers. (Happy Heart Flannel)

Hi Nancy! I love doing rag quilts and the Happy Heart is my design. There is no batting and the backing is done as you go. You put the front and back together, wrong sides together, applique your shape on top and then sew with all raw edges going to the top. Those “seams” get clipped to make your “rag.” Please read over the pattern and if you are still confused, please do let me know.
